A wild way

TO MAKE A LIVING

We didn’t suddenly wake up one day and say we want to become beekeepers. Beekeeping found us.

It was a gradual thing that manifested itself from a love of being outdoors and a youth spent roaming freely, mountain biking, hiking and fishing in the rural landscape of the Dyfi Valley, (mid Wales). This developed into a deep appreciation for our natural surroundings. As luck had it, we were introduced to the world of Bee farming during those teenage years by a well-established and well-respected Bee Keeper in the area and worked for him for several years. The foundations of our Bee keeping knowledge and aspirations for starting our own company all stem from this opportune meeting.

It is generally the pastime of older folk, (60 being the average age) but how they cope with the tough physical nature of beekeeping is beyond us!

Even though we have youth on our side, it is probably one of the most demanding jobs on the planet.
Everything rests on what you put into it and quality honey is only produced with a huge amount of effort and of course experience and knowledge learned over time. You have to be totally dedicated and there is definitely an art to making it. No two seasons are the same and every season can be different due to climate and environmental changes.

Bee colonies also play a vital role in pollination of our delicate eco-systems, so protecting them, not just for their honey, is crucial for everyone. Our work with the agricultural industry and building long-term relationships with local farmers, who rely on the bees for pollination of their crops, is a critical part of this.

When we see our bees thrive though in the wild natural surroundings that we choose for their hives, it makes it all worthwhile. We hope you enjoy the exquisite taste, extra special care and unwavering devotion that we pour into making our seasonal range of Native honeys.
